Happy New Year!
It is a season of new beginnings...
For the past several years our family has chosen a Scripture that we stand on throughout the entire year. Some of us individually choose a verse. Do you have a verse for 2009?
Our verse for 2008 was Philippians 3:13
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead
Our family takes the Word of God literally. We have been even been questioned of that by some of those looking from the outside in, however when 'those people' find themselves against a wall, guess who they call for prayer and counsel?
You see, the Bible is the only book that is living...active...sharper than any double edge sword. It is Truth. It has been tried and tested for ages and ages..it's something real and relevant.
Hebrews 4: 12 says....For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Our family verse for this year is still in prayer and I will post it soon. There are so many. God's Word is so rich and powerful. The more I dig in it, the more the Holy Spirit unearths.
The word on my heart for 2009 is freedom. Thus, my individual verse for 2009 is Galatians 5:1
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
The Message Bible says it this way:
1 Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.
The Lord intended for all of us to live in freedom. A real freedom in a real person. A freedom that lasts. Christ has set us free to live. Abandonment.
I do hope you will leave a comment on a special verse the Lord reserved for you this year. Join me on the next post as we dig a little deeper in Galatians 5:1.
I want to leave you with our 2007 Family Verse....
Revelation 21:5 (Amplified Bible)
5And He Who is seated on the throne said, See! I make all things new. Also He said, Record this, for these sayings are faithful (accurate, incorruptible, and trustworthy) and true (genuine).
